Adventure Activity Company Withstands the Pandemic by Swapping Tourism for TV

Ceredigion, Wales, 12th August 2021 – Adventure activity company, Adventure Beyond adapted its business model during the pandemic to provide location management services for the production industry. This has enabled the company to sustain its 24-year business despite Covid-19 seriously affecting the UK activity sector.

Prior to the outbreak of Covid, most of Adventure Beyond’s revenue was generated through tourism, school residentials and assessments for The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. As with all organisations in the sector, lockdowns and social distancing restrictions meant that all these income streams were cancelled. Adventure Beyond pivoted and began to work more regularly with a range of media production companies, supporting documentary and reality TV projects.

Adventure Beyond has extensive experience delivering activities, both on land and water throughout the UK. Its expertise in managing the natural environment safely has proved easy to transfer from members of the public to TV production crews.

Dale Templar, Managing Director, One Tribe TV commented, “We have worked with Adventure Beyond both prior to the pandemic and during it. The team has proved to be an invaluable resource for planning shoots. Adventure Beyond set-up a source to sea kayaking trip, as part of a short documentary series we produced. The crew understood that sections of the environment could be challenging and dangerous if not controlled effectively, but Adventure Beyond’s skill and attention to detail ensured that everything ran smoothly. We look forward to working on future projects with the team.”

Prior to the Covid outbreak, location management had formed a very small part of Adventure Beyond’s offering, but it has since developed into a key area for the company. Adventure Beyond has spent the pandemic assisting media production teams with location sourcing, securing the required access permissions and shoot planning. The company also offers crews and participants training and guidance in a wide range of outdoor activities.

Jet Moore, Managing Director, Adventure Beyond explained, “Having worked in the outdoors for many years, the team has a wealth of knowledge to support effective policies and procedures for media production. The pandemic has been extremely tough on the outdoor industry, but our location management services have provided security for our business during this uncertain time. Now that restrictions are easing, we are welcoming activity groups again, but TV and film is an area that we will continue to expand into and an exciting new venture for us.”
