White Water Rafting

The Ultimate Team Challenge

The best fun you can have on a bouncy castle going down a river!

Join the Excitement

White Water Rafting is one of our most popular activities. With just the right mix of exhilarating fast water and gentle paddling, it is the perfect introduction to this sport.

You will be paddling down the River Teifi, where the UK Raft Championships were held in 2012. It's a great activity for families, friends, and schools, suitable for ages 8+.

Adverse Conditions & Safety

River Levels & Weather:
If the river is too high to make a safe trip we will adapt the session or change to an alternative session / location. We can still do the session in the rain.

Option 1 (Rapids): If there is not enough water, the tubing session is the best alternative. Or we can use the rafts on a deeper section of the river.

Option 2 (Gorge): Nearly always works apart from in high winds.

Swim ability:
None required, as you will float in all the equipment. Please advise us if you are a non swimmer or nervous in the water so we can best cater for you during the session. There are sections where you can be 10 meters from the nearest bit of land but it is always safest to get back on the raft if you fall in.

How Does The Session Run?

Option 1: The Rapids Run

After an informative briefing, you will start learning how to steer your raft as a team, before being launched straight into the action as you make your first drop into real white water.

The Journey:

  • Start with Grade 2 rapids to build confidence.
  • Enjoy a fun trip following the river bends and playing games.
  • Reach the excitement of a Grade 3 Rapid.
  • Travel through beautiful countryside.
  • Finish by heading down a thrilling Grade 4 Rapid.

*The team are required to paddle at command during the rapids. The guide steers, but the team provides the power!

Option 2: The Gorge Tour

After your briefing and steering practice, you head down the river with your guide. During this session, you will all get a chance to have a go at guiding the raft, taking turns as 'Captain'.

The Journey:

  • Travel down the stunning Teifi Gorge.
  • A tranquil section filled with wildlife.
  • Stop to swim and have a packed lunch along the way.
  • Head out of the gorge to the estuary section.
  • Finish near Cardigan Castle.

*The team will need to do some paddling if there is a head wind on the final straight!

Common Questions

If the water is too low, the rapids become too narrow for rafts. If this happens, we change the session to White Water Tubing or Kayaking, which are narrow enough to head down the rapids and are great fun. Alternatively, we can raft on a deeper section of the river.
No, it is unnecessary. The main aim is to stay on board! If you fall in, we provide buoyancy aids that keep you floating safely.
We arrange a shuttle at the start of the session, leaving some vehicles at the end point and some at the start, so you are ready to go as soon as you finish.
To make the raft viable, we need a minimum of 4 people. If you are a couple or individual, contact us! We have a list of people looking to join groups and will try to match you up with others.
